Papaver will thrive in most soils as long as there is good drainage, in a sunny position. They are easy to grow, hardy and reliable, requiring little to no maintenance. Ideal for beds and borders, especially in a cottage, wildlife or informal garden style setting. The tall flowering stems may need support. After flowering the foliage tends to die back so cut it back to the ground.
