Lilies like well-drained, moisture retentive soil with plenty of organic matter. They like sun or partial shade, and protection from strong winds. Great for flower beds and borders, wild gardens, and containers on the patio or balcony. Water well during the heat of summer, and apply a liquid feed when in flower. Remove faded flowers, but do not cut back the stems before autumn. Lilies do not require lifting.
